What is an osteopath and what do they do to help people in pain?
Are you fed up of being in pain? Have you ever wondered what is wrong?
Wouldn’t you like a natural treatment that gets you back to the things you love?
So, you are an Osteopath but what exactly do you do?
Osteopathy is about treating the whole person. Your body is like a puzzle sometimes and your anatomy might be prevented from functioning well for a number of reasons. I diagnose and take a full medical history so I can find out about you and look at the whole picture. I need to know about the moments that led you to visit me. Looking and listening in clinic are very important tools for me, that’s why I love to re-read my notes as they can reveal how far you have come in your recovery since your first visit. I’m proud of the people who walk through my door because they have taken a big step in prioritising their health and looking after themselves.
Many of my patients have lots of experience with healthcare, often they have seen so called health professionals who have charged them for multiple treatments to no avail. I don’t make promises, my hands aren’t wands! But what I can do is offer the best tools I have regarding diagnosis and use the correct techniques in soft tissue massage, sports massage and gentle adjustments to help ease your body away from pain. I work hard because I love to see my patients get better after a few sessions. It’s a two-way process though and my patients know that if they take the exercise I give them seriously and commit to them (I always know when you haven’t done them) they will improve and be stronger for it.
Your body is amazing. Help it.
